Last week I randomly stumbled into super cult korean skin care routine Tony Moly (product review coming soon!), which recently opened right in the heart of New York, (in Koreatown to be exact). The store’s focus is on korean skin care routine. The walls are lined with more BB’s, sheet masks, moisturizers and crazy snail infused treatments than you could possibly imagine. Oh, and the makeup aisles are like candy to the eyes. The rainbow colors and packaging (look for containers shaped like apples, pandas and golden eggs) are beyond and just beg to be Instagramed. Yeah, so it’s tooootally worth the trip. It’s like a stocking stuffer’s heaven and a beauty girl’s dream. Based on my newest beauty discovery, I was inspired to research and discover the true magical secrets behind korean skin care routine.

Do you ever notice how korean skin care routine women have the most beautiful, poreless skin? If you assume this is all because of genes than you are totally wrong. They actually work quite diligently to achieve that perfect korean skin care routine, and take a completely different approach to makeup than we do in the States. For example, here in the US, we expect our concealer or BB to do the all the covering up we need. But on the Eastern front, applying the base makeup is actually a process that refers to a technique that translates to “expressing your korean skin care routine.” This style of makeup application, although slightly more time consuming, uncovers facets of korean skin care routine American women haven’t been taught to explore. korean skin care routine strive for perfection, so they make deliberate choices when applying cosmetics packed with powerful ingredients that aim to perfect the korean skin care routine overtime.

Another differentiating factor is that korean skin care routine is a part of their culture, and while the American approach to korean skin care routine is more reactive (like, “Oh my god is that a wrinkle forming!? I need a eye cream!”) korean skin care routine women start being proactive as they grow up. korean skin care routine think caring about their korean skin care routine and complexion is the ultimate investment. It is not just financial investment but a time investment. You might be following a strict cleansing and moisturizing regime every night before going to bed, but you are still missing out on some important steps that can help you achieve spotless, beautiful korean skin care routine.

 The 10-Step Korean Skincare Routine

Now, I am sure you have heard of the famous “million-step” korean skin care routine when it comes to Asian beauty. Fear not. It’s actually made up of 10 steps, and while this might seem like a process that would take up your whole morning and evening, it actually only takes about 15 minutes, and leaves your korean skin care routine glowing. The routine basically boils down to cleansing, exfoliating, treating, intensely moisturizing and applying plenty of SPF during the day.
Here are the steps in a nutshell…

KOREAN SKIN CARE ROUTINE 1. Pre-Cleanse: Step one is part of the ever-popular “double cleansing.” First, use a good eye makeup remover or towelette (like TonyMoly Panda’s Dream Eye Makeup Remover Pad or Koh Gen Do Cleansing Cloth) to rid your korean skin care routine of any shadow, liner, mascara or even lipstick. Next, loosen the face makeup and buildup from the day with an oil-based cleanser (I love Amore Pacific Treatment Cleansing Oil). Even Tata just launched a Face Cleansing Oil!

KOREAN SKIN CARE ROUTINE 2. Re-Cleanse: Step two involves cleaning the pre-cleansed korean skin care routine with a mild cream or foaming cleanser. Again, my fave Tata Harper has a “2nd step” cleanser that I really like, Tata Harper’s Purifying Cleanser.

KOREAN SKIN CARE ROUTINE 3. Exfoliate: Use a natural cleanser (like Skinfood Black Sugar Mask Wash Off) and only focus on the areas that really need special attention like the t-zone and around the nose. Only exfoliate a few times a week, as Koreans believe that less is more, and you don’t want to irritate the korean skin care routine.

KOREAN SKIN CARE ROUTINE 4. Tone: Don’t use an alcohol-based toner, but something mild to sooth your skin and restore a healthy pH balance (like Amore Pacific korean skin care routine Energy Hydration).

KOREAN SKIN CARE ROUTINE 5. Essence: Everyone knows about SK-II’s famous essence (you know, the one that Cate Blanchett and Kate Bosworth swear by), well this is it. It’s crazy important to use an essence after cleansing. Essence helps improve the appearance of your skin: spots are less visible, appearance of wrinkles is reduced, skin texture is more refined, firmness is improved, and radiance is beautifully elevated. Skin becomes breathtakingly crystal clear. I am also loving Missha Time Revolution Essence on Korean beauty site Memebox.

KOREAN SKIN CARE ROUTINE 6. Ampoule: This is basically their version of a serum, and it’s essentially a super concentrated essence. Make sure to apply once your skin is freshly dewified from the essence. This ampoule resolves all korean skin care routine problems like dulling skin, uneven skin tone, and loss of skin elasticity. Sulwhasoo Ampules are super divine.

KOREAN SKIN CARE ROUTINE 7. The Sheet Mask: Twice a week, or even more if you can swing it, apply the paper-thin, wet sheet mask. The cool thing about these masks is that there are hundred of different kinds that target a variety of concerns, and even sensitive areas like the lips and eyes. I LOVE Dr. Jart+ and the Water-Full Sheet Mask (used backstage at Rag & Bone’s Spring 15 show) is the B.O.M.B. Dr. Jart+’s Sleeping Mask is quite amazing as well.

KOREAN SKIN CARE ROUTINE 8. Eye Cream: A thick eye cream, like Amore Pacific Time Renewal Eye Cream (that my facialist Dangene swears by), should be applied twice a day. Using your ring fingers, dab and pat – do not rub! I do this religiously anyway, so this step is my favorite.

KOREAN SKIN CARE ROUTINE 9. Face Moisturizer: It is essential to emulsify the skin using a light moisturizer. Use your fingertips to massage the moisturizer in your face to promote circulation, and don’t forget to moisturize the neck. Try to use a lightweight emulsion, like Amore Pacific SPF 30 Future Response Age Defense Cream, that blends into korean skin care routine really fast without leaving it greasy.

KOREAN SKIN CARE ROUTINE 10. Night Cream: Make sure that the night cream lets your skin breathe. This night cream or cream mask, which is the second layer of moisturizer applied to the skin, helps lock moisture in the korean skin care routine throughout the night, so you wake up looking fresh and beautiful. I love the feeling and texture of Dr. Jart+ Time Returning Cream.

Remember, the most important korean skin care routine beauty makeup secret is less makeup, more korean skin care routine. You don’t need to exfoliate and mask every day, but whenever you can give your skin an extra boost, it’s so worth it.
